1

,I

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. SPARKS:

approved. The contract has been negotiated
and approved by the Secretary. lVe met with
them Monday and they are now scheduling their
election for this project to go ahead.

Thank you. If there are any questions
I'll be glad to try and answer them."

"Thank you, Bob.

I notice two members from the House
present in the audience. Hi McNeil and Frank
Kendrick. Would you stand up? We are glad
to have you both here. Frank, will you stand
up?

Before we ask for comments, Bob, I'd like
to explain to some of the members of the Legis-
lature that might not know it, that in the past
few years this Board has been joining hands,
so to speak, with the Bureau of Reclamation
by providing funds for feasibility reports
and reconnaissance studies where. for budgetary
reasons, there would be a delay of many years
or some period of time unless we helped finan-
cially. We have been doing this and I think
the Board and staff have felt that this has
materially aided in the development of our
Colorado projects and we hope that we'll be
able to continue that sort of a program if
members of the Legislature think it's feasible
and in good order for us to do so. We have it
in our budget and hope that it will be approved
by the Legislature.

First of all, on Region 4's report, are
there any comments or questions from the
members of the Board?"

"I have one, Mr. Jennings, with reference
to the Fruitland Mesa Project. I note that
you state here that it has been submitted to
the President. I do not recall getting a
report from the Federal Bureau of the Budget
on that project."
