"You say the width of the channel directly
below the dam will be a hundred feet wide - how
deep will the excavation be?"

"Beginning at the bridge it is practically
to the grade of the present stream. There are
points as we go downstream that We will degrade
the present bed about 5 feet."

"Mr. Chairman, there is perhaps some mis-
conception about a channel of about a hundred
feet in width. This is the channel itself. The
actual right-of-way requirements are much greater
than that. The right-of-way requirements are
about three hundred feet at the upper end and
increase some at the lower end. On ell t:hr,r Gic1c
of the actual channel would be a buffer zone.
We contemplate that this area would be developed
by the planting of shrubbery, grass or trees and
could be utilized as bicycle paths or picnic
areas.

Over on the other wall Mr. Dover has put up
some proposed plans concerning landscaping of
that area.

The South Suburban Recreation District has
also been working on this project and has been a
member of our committee since the inception of
this project. It has developed certain tentative
plans. It was our hope that the South Suburban
Park and Recreation District would actually take
this area over under a long term lease from the
state. "

forth, how much of a maintenance problem do you
