Construction for the second to the last phase of <br />improvements commenced in March by Noland, Inc. of Mancos, CO. and was completed in July. The <br />final phase of improvements is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2000. <br /> <br />Ute Water Conservancv District - Plateau Creek Pipeline <br /> <br />Authorization: SB 88-30 County: Mesa - E of Palisade <br />Water Source: Grand Mesa Drainage Project Yield: 7,200 ac.ft. <br />Terms of Loan: $27,600,000 @ 5% for 30 years Project Type: Pipeline Construction <br /> <br />This $55,000,000 project is the replacement of an existing 15-mile pipeline providing water to <br />the Ute Water Conservancy District. The District provides water to 55,000 people, or more than half of <br />the Grand Valley population. Camp, Dresser, & McKee, Inc. of Denver has completed final design and <br />construction contract documents for Phase II of the project. Phase I of the project, placement of the <br />lower 8,000 linear foot of the pipeline, commenced in February by ERS Constructors, Inc. of Sedalia, <br />CO. and was completed in May 1999. Phase II involves the installation of26,000-ft. of 48" waterline <br />pipe, 29,500-ft. of 54" waterline pipe, and the construction of 13,500-ft. of 10' diameter tunnel. Ajoint <br />venture between Barnard Construction, Inc. of Bozeman, Montana and Affholder Construction, Inc. of <br />Chesterfield, Missouri was awarded the construction contract for Phase II, at a cost of $44,000,000. <br />Construction of Phase II commenced in December 1999 and is approximately 10% complete. The <br />project is tentatively scheduled for completion in February 2002. <br /> <br />Denver Museum of Natural Historv - Denver Basin Aquifer Geo-Hvdrologic Core Studv <br /> <br />Authorization: SB 98-1189 <br />Water Source: Denver Basin Aquifers <br />Terms of Loan: $90,000 Grant <br /> <br />County: Elbert - S of Kiowa <br />Project Yield: N/A <br />Project Type: Geo-Hydrologic Study <br /> <br />This project is the acquisition of a 2,200-foot core of the Denver Basin aquifers near Kiowa in <br />the central Denver Basin. The purpose of the core is to help develop an integrated hydrologic and <br />geologic framework for the Denver Basin aquifers. This will enable State, County, and municipal <br />planners to promote appropriate development of the Basin's water resources. This core-drilling project <br />is part of a three-year National Science Foundation research study that will focus on the evolution of the <br />Denver Basin and its landscapes. Drilling commenced March I, 1999 by Layne Westem, Inc. and was <br />completed in April. Core analysis will continue for three years. <br /> <br />Consolidated Mutual Water Companv - Fortune Reservoir Dam Construction <br /> <br />Authorization: SB 99-173 County: Jefferson - NW of Arvada <br />Water Source: Clear Creek Project Yield: 8,869 ac.ft. <br />Terms of Loan: $16,300,000 @4.75% for 10 years Project Type: New Dam Construction <br /> <br />This $20,000,000 project is the construction of a new 9,000 acre.foot reservoir northwest of <br />Arvada. The project consists of a 105- foot high, zoned earth embankment, Probable Maximum Flood <br />emergency spillway, with a 30-inch diameter outlet pipe. The final design plans were completed by <br />Tuttle-Applegate, Inc. of Denver and CTL/Thompson, which have been reviewed and approved by the <br />State Engineer's Office. The construction contract was awarded to R.E. Monk from Colorado Springs, <br />Colorado, at a contract price of$15,000,000. The distribution pipeline from the dam to the Company's <br />treatment plant commenced construction in October 1999 by Company forces. The Dam construction by <br />R.E. Monk is anticipated to commence in March of 2000, with project completion scheduled for March <br />of 2002. <br />
