About a month ago we had a <br />meeting with the subcommittee to discuss the <br />alternatives to Castlewood, which are des- I <br />cribed in this packet. I am associated <br />with the Colorado Open Space Council and I am <br />also associated with the subcommittee that John <br />just spoke about. <br /> <br />I think it is very important to consider <br />each project separately as you have requested. <br />There appears to be considerable public confu- <br />sion in the public announcements about the <br />heatings on this project. The project that <br />includes Castlewood dam was included in the Toll <br />Gate-Sand Creek hearings. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Castlewood darn project has aroused <br />some controversy in the areas that Mr. Sparks <br />has pointed out. We feel that the public really <br />has suffered from lack of including the Castle- <br />wood darn reservoir project in the title of the <br />entire thing. I am glad to see that you will <br /> <br />-24- <br />
