Construction commenced in August 1999 with completion <br />scheduled for June 2000. <br /> <br />Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Comoanv - Summit Reservoir and Ditch System Rehab. <br /> <br />Juthorization: SB 97-008 County: Montezuma - NE of Cortez <br />"ater Source: Lost Canyon Creek Project Yield: 4,287 ac.ft. <br />Terms of Loan: $200,000 @ 3.75% for 30 years Project Type: Reservoir and Ditch Rehab. <br />This project is the rehabilitation of the Summit Reservoir Dam outlet works and the construction of repairs <br />and improvements to the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company's water collection and distribution facilities. <br />The Cortez office of the Natural Resource Conservation Service prepared the construction plans and specifications. <br />Construction for the second to the last phase of improvements commenced in March by Noland, Inc. of Mancos, <br />CO. and was completed in July. The phase of improvements is scheduled for completion in the fall of2000. <br /> <br />Ute Water Conservancv District - Plateau Creek Pioeline <br /> <br />Authorization: SB 88-30 County: Mesa - E of Palisade <br />Water Source: Grand Mesa Drainage Project Yield: 7,200 ac.ft. <br />Terms of Loan: $7,600,000 @ 5% for 30 years Project Type: Pipeline Construction <br />This project is the replacement of an existing 15-mile pipeline providing water to the Ute Water <br />Conservancy District. The District provides water to 55,000 people, or more than half of the Grand Valley <br />population. Camp, Dresser, & McKee, Inc. of Denver is currently preparing the project design for 1999 <br />construction. Phase I of the project, placement of the lower 8,000 linear foot of the pipeline, commenced in <br />February by ERS Constructors, Inc. of Sed alia, CO. and was completed in May 1999. The final project phase is <br />scheduled to commence in October 1999 with completion scheduled for February 2002. <br /> <br />Denver Museum of Natural Historv - Denver Basin Aauifer Geo-Hvdrologjc Core Studv <br /> <br />Authorization: SB 98-1189 County: Elbert - S of Kiowa <br />II/JF ater Source: Denver Basin Aquifers Project Yield: N/ A <br />Werms of Loan: $90,000 Grant Project Type: Geo-Hydrologic Study <br />This project is the acquisition of a 2,200-foot core of the Denver Basin aquifers near Kiowa in the central <br />Denver Basin. The purpose of the core is to help develop an integrated hydrologic and geologic framework for the <br />Denver Basin aquifers. This will enable State, County, and municipal planners to promote appropriate <br />development of the Basin's water resources. This core-drilling project is part of a three-year National Science <br />Foundation research study that will focus on the evolution of the Denver Basin and its landscapes. Drilling <br />commenced March I, 1999 by Layne Western, Inc. and was completed in April. Core analysis will continue for <br />three years. <br /> <br />Projects Under Design <br /> <br />HigbJand Ditch Comoanv - Foothills Reservoir Dam Rehabilitation <br /> <br />Authorization: SB 98-1198 - Severance Tax County: Boulder - W of Longmont <br />Water Source: St. Vrain River Project Yield: 450 ac.ft. <br />Terms of Loan: $1,040,000@4.0% for 30 years Project Type: Dam Rehabilitation <br />This project is the rehabilitation of Foothills Reservoir darn, located west of Longmont in Boulder County. <br />The dam has an inadequate spillway and severe seepage through the embankment and has had a storage restriction <br />placed on it by the State Engineer. The Highland Ditch Company has contracted with Smith Geotechnical <br />Engineering Consultants of Fort Collins to analyze design alternatives and complete construction plans and <br />specifications.
