Owl Creek Suuulv and Ditch Company - Hydraulic Structure Rehabilitation <br /> <br />The Owl Creek Supply and Irrigation Company operates and maintains 12 miles of the Owl Creek Ditch. The <br />existing hydraulic structures along the 12 miles of ditch, such as; check structures, drop structures, measuring weirs, <br />flumes, gates, etc., have severely deteriorated over the years and are in the need of replacement. The proposed project <br />involves the replacement of 14 major structures, 55 flumes, 10 meter gates, and 30 headgates, to be designed by Smith <br />Geotechnical, Ft. Collins, Colorado. Construction of the measuring devices commenced in November of2001, with the <br />remaining improvements to follow in the fallfWiner of2001/2002. <br /> <br />8. Jackson Lake Reservoir and Irrig:ation Comuany - Dam Rehabilitation <br /> <br />Authorization: HB 01-157 <br />Water Source: South Platte River <br />Terms of Loan: $2,700,000 @ for 30 years <br /> <br />County: Morgan - N.W. ofFt. Morgan <br />Project Yield: 30,000 acre-feet <br />ProjecHype: Dam Rehabilitation <br /> <br />Jackson Lake Reservoir is located approximately 17 miles northwest of Fort Morgan and has an estimated storage <br />capacity of30,000 acre-feet. The dam has been in-place since 1902 and provides mainly late season irrigation water to <br />about 17,000 acres of land. The dam is not currently under any restriction by the State Engineer's Office, but the SEO <br />has indicated concern about the existing dam facing, The proposed project is to provide a renewed slope protection <br />along the upstream face of the dam. The existing concrete slabs have deteriorated over time, due to the extreme wave <br />action and general freeze-thaw. The major component ofthe project is new soil cement facing, approximately 3-4 feet <br />thick, running along about 70% of the existing dam face (8,100-feet). The new soil cement will be poured directly a <br />over the existing concrete slabs and will extend several feet below the toe ofthe embankment. W. W. Wheeler of ... <br />Englewood, Colorado is designing the project, at an estimated construction cost of $3,000,000. The project was <br />awarded to ASI, of Colorado, for $2,200,000. Construction commenced in August of2001 and is tentatively <br />scheduled to be completed by December of 2001. <br /> <br />9. North Poudre Irrigation Companv - Reservoirs No.4, 5 and Indian Creek Rehabilitation <br /> <br />Authorization: HB 98-173 <br />Water Source: Cache La Poudre <br />Terms of Loan: $1,107,000 @ 4.04% for 20 yrs. <br /> <br />County: Weld - N. of Fort Collins <br />Project Yield: 9,363 acre feet <br />Project Type: 'Reservoir Rehabilitation <br /> <br />This project involves the rehabilitation of Reservoirs 4,5 and Indian Creek. The Irrigation Company has retained the <br />services of Smith Geotechnical, out of Fort Collins, Colorado to prepare design plans and specifications for the <br />proposed improvements. Improvements to Reservoir No.5 were designed and completed in 1999. Indian Creek and <br />No. Reservoirs are currently under design. The proposed improvements to Indian Creek Reservoir involve a new 500- <br />ft.long spillway, replacement of the outlet structure, new toe drains, and reshaping the downstream dam face. The <br />proposed improvements to Reservoir No.4 include, relocation of the spillway to the center ofthe dam, replacinfthe <br />existing outlet structure and Parshall flume, new toe drains, rip rap placement, and reshaping the upstream face of the <br />dam. Indian Creek Reservoir was awarded to Zak Dirt, Longmont Colorado, with construction tentatively scheduled <br />for June, 2002, <br /> <br />10.
