"I think we should check into that
to see if there is any possibility of
getting an appropriation for Governor
Johnson when he travels as the Colorado
Commissioner."

"The Compact clearly states that
salaries and expenses shall be paid by
the State which the Commissioner repre-
sents."

"There is no reason that I can see for
the Board to pay those expenses."

Governor McNichols entered the meeting and Vice-
Chairman Moses explained to him that discussion was being
held on the travel expense of the staff and members of the
Board.

"I notice there remains $3,838.66 in
the travel fund. I don't assume the mem-
bersof this Board will be using much
more for the remaining fiscal year than
they have for the first half so it looks
as though we will come out pretty well."

"I would like to make this observa-
tion. Everyone who has attended these
meetings recognizes the fact there will
undoubtedly be a considerable contro-
versy over the Upper Colorado River Com-
pact in Washington during the coming
year. It will be extremely unfortunate
if the State of Colorado lacks representa-
tion in Washington if this comes to pass.
I feel a supplemental appropriation
should be asked for with the hope it won't
be needed." :

a supplemental travel appropriation from
the coming Legislature. I feel we should
have funds available to permit a somewhat
expanded representation at these meetings
in case we need them." .
