The Type 15 FIS contains detailed information for two streams, Little Dry Creek and Big Dry
Creek.

. The Type 15 FIS was primarily derived from a 1968 Flood Plain Information Report
prepared by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, previously designated by Resolution No.2.
For the Type 15 FIS, the Federal Insurance Administration's study contractor, the USDA Soil
Conservation Service, provided the Corps of Engineers with information to revise the
hydraulic analyses contained in Resolution No.2. Resolution No.2 was revised by the Corps
of Engineers to reflect the effects of the construction of the Cinderella City shopping center
along Little Dry Creek and to reflect other manrnade changes to the floodplains.

. The Type 15 FIS has been superceded by subsequent floodplain studies. It is no longer a valid
floodplain study for streams in the City of Englewood.

. The CWCB has designated and approved more current floodplain information for the City of
Englewood, as provided in Resolution No. 348, which designated the portion ofFEMA's 1991
FIS for Arapahoe County and Incorporated Municipalities within the City of Englewood, and as
provided in Resolution No. 97-448, which designated the Urban Drainage & Flood Control
District's 1996 FHAD for Big Dry Creek.

COMMUNITY RESPONSE:
The City of Englewood sent a letter requesting CWCB acknowledgement and rescission of
the 1971 Type 15 FIS. CWCB staff met with the City's Floodplain Administrator. The City
is supportive of the Board's proposed acknowledgement and rescission of the 1971 Type 15
FIS.

SUMMARY:
The staffrecommends Board approval of the floodplain resolution for the City of Englewood. The
floodplain information contained in the Type 15 FIS no longer meets the Board's "Floodplain
Designation and Approval Rules". The resolution will acknowledge and then rescind historic
floodplain information for the City of Englewood that has since been superceded, assuring that the
city's floodplain information complies with state statutory requirements.

9
