There are mountains <br />of beautiful scenery at Ruedi. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Sugar Loaf Dam shown here provides <br />storage on the eastern slope near Leadville. <br /> <br />Turquoise Lake viewed from the direction <br />of the discharge outlet of Boustead Tunnel. <br />Recreation facilities, even better than those <br />at Ruedi, are planned around this lake, but <br />funding to complete these facilities has been <br />delayed. <br /> <br />The Boustead Tunnel. A shot of the west <br />portal or inlet side when it was holed through <br />about two years ago. <br /> <br />A tunnel-lining crew in action. Lining <br />in Boustead Tunnel is progressing and is about <br />60 percent complete. The contractor's esti- <br />mated completion date is August 1, 1971 (we <br />hope it might be a little sooner), which <br />means that, barring unforeseen circumstances, <br />the Boustead Tunnel will become operative <br />this year. This, to me, will be the most <br />significant event in our progress to date. <br /> <br />Standing ready are key facilities of the <br />collection system on the western slope. This <br />diversion structure is on the Fryingpan River <br />and will divert water directly into Boustead <br />Tunnel. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />This structure is on the South Fork of <br />the Fryingpan River. Two rectangular openings <br />on the right side bypass water into the tunnel. <br />Another structure on Chapman Creek is com- <br />pleted and ready to go. six miles of tunnel <br />and conduit interconnect these structures with <br />Boustead Tunnel. <br /> <br />Hunter Tunnel, on Section 1, extending <br />
