JI. <br /> <br />74 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />The To\W ofPaonia has hired a group of consulting firms to conduct a feasibility study of potential <br />improvements to the Town's:raw water supply system. The study is focusing on various alternatives <br />for additional raw water storage. Currently the Town is entirely reliant on a system of springs with <br />very little storage. A draft report was submitted by the consultants in April of2000 and the Town is <br />presently'considering the alternatives presented in the report. A final report is expected in June <br />. 2001. <br /> <br />EI Paso Countv Water Authoritv - El Paso County Water Master Plan <br />Authorization: HB 00-1419 Grant Amount: $200,000 <br />Water Source: Project Type: Water Supply Study <br />Location: EI Paso County Project Manager: Tim Feehan <br /> <br />This project is the preparation of a Water Master Plan for EI Paso County by a group of 17 water <br />providers in the County who have formed the EI Paso County Water Authority. The Authority has <br />adopted a tive--year program of technical studies aimed at the development of a long range, <br />countywide Water Master Plan. The purpose of the pian is to develop water resources, systems, and <br />facilities in whole or in part for the benefit of Authority members and their inhabitants, and other <br />residents of the county, now and into the future. Phases I, 2A, and 2B have been completed by John <br />C. Halepaska & Associates in association with Knight Piesold and Co. Award of Phases 3, 4B, 4C, <br />4D, and 4E to Halepaska/Piesold is scheduled for approval in November 2000. The preparation of a <br />CWCB funding contract and scope of work is in draft form. <br /> <br />North Fork hntlrovemellt Association Paonia Reservoir Rehabilitation <br />Authorization: HB 00-1419 Grant Amount: $55,000 <br />Water Source: N. Fork Gunnison River Project Type: Wtershed Pianning Stdy <br />Location: Delta County - 20 miles E. ofPaonia Project Manager: Brian Hyde <br /> <br />The North Fork hnprovemetlt Association (NFIA) is a non-profit corporation with a mission to <br />meet current and future demands for traditional uses of the river while improving stream stability, <br />riparian habitat, and ecosystem function along the North Fork of the Gunnison River. An important <br />aspect of the river system is the Paonia Reservoir, and the Association will use this grant to study <br />the Reservoir's effect on the North Fork. The study will be conducted by CSU and administered by <br />the Association. Grant contracting and development of the plan of study is currently underway. <br /> <br />Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District Feasibilitv Studv <br />Authorization:HB 93-1273 Grant Amount: $5,000 <br />Water Source: Dutton Creek ProjectType: Feasibility Study <br />Location: Five miles northwest ofPagosa Springs Project Manager: Bill Green <br /> <br />The District will prepare an updated feasibility study (with consulting assistance) for the <br />enlargement of the District's existing Steven's Lake Dam and Reservoir. The reservoir has a <br />capacity of 635 acre--feet and is located on Dutton Creek about five miles northwest ofPagosa <br />Springs. A feasibility study for the project was first submitted in October 1992. The project was <br />approved by the Board and authorized for $1,912,000 in HB 93-1273. <br />In April 1996, the CWCB staff reviewed the report and requested that the District update the <br />study prior to entering into a contract for a construction loan. <br />
