The river was straightened in the 1970's, leading <br />to serious instability and erosion problems. A master plan for the reach between Terrace Reservoir <br />and U.S. Highway 285 has been prepared. This project will focus on the subreach in the Capulin <br />area. Improvements will include realignment of the channei, bank protection, weirs and other flow <br />control structures. A Scope of Work is currently b~ing developed. It will address the steps of <br />design, COl1lltruction, maintenance, and.monitoring. <br /> <br />Mesa County - Bos1ev Wash Feasibilitv Studv and Delnonstration Proiect <br />Authorization: HB 00-i419 Grant Amount: $50,000 <br />Water Source: N/A Project Type: Flood Control <br />Location: Mesa County - near Clifton Project Manager: Larry Lang <br /> <br />This project is a Drainageway Master Planning,: Preliminary Drainage Design, Floodplain <br />Delineation Study on Bosley Wash and Stub Ditch with the Grand Valley. The stream experienced <br />three major flood events in the summer 1999. HQR Engineering was selected to perform the <br />engineering work for this project, and a contract has ~een signed with Mesa County. Work on the <br />project is underway at this time. . <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />National Education Foundation <br />Authorization: HB 00-1419 Orant Amount: $100,000 <br />Water Source: N/A j?roject Type: Educational <br />Location: Statewide froject Manager: Dan McAuliffe <br /> <br />This two-year project consists of the development and distribution of the "Learning to be <br />WaterWise" Program to intermediate grade school students and households throughout Colorado <br />beginning in the 2000/2001 school year. With the ftuiciing provided by the CWCB grant and <br />matching funds from local sources, the Program see~ to reach over 6,000 students. <br /> <br />About $25,000 will spent putting a variety of educatiokal material on CD's for distribution in the <br />fail 2000. A $50,000 contract is expected to be signedlwith the Learning to be WaterWise program <br />for distribution purposes. The remaining funds will bq held pending further review and <br />recommendation from the Colorado Water Congress Education Subcommittee. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />! <br />i <br />
