The proposed improvements include, constructing a compacted earthfill <br />liner on the upstream siope of the reservoir and floor, construct new toe drains, raise the <br />embanlanent dam crest by 2.5-ft., place rip rap and iiner protection material above the earthfill <br />liner, spillway repairs, and fill the old borrow pit within the reservoir. Harrison Western <br />Construction has commenced construction in rehabilitating the dam face and will continue working <br />as weather permits. Hil!h1and Ditch Comnanv - Foothills Reservoir Dam Rehabilitation <br /> <br />Authorization: SB 98-1 i 98 - Severance Tax <br />Water Source: St. Vrain River <br />Terms of Loan: $1,040,000@4.0%for30years <br /> <br />County: Boulder - W ofLongmont <br />Project Yield: 450 ac.ft. <br />Project Type: Dam Rehabilitation <br /> <br />This project is the rehabilitation of Foothills Reservoir dam, located west of Longmon1 in <br />Boulder County. The dam has an inadequate spillway and severe seepage through the ernbankment <br />and has had a storage restriction placed on it by the State Engineer. Smith Geotechnical <br />Engineering Consuitants of Fort Collins Colorado prepared the final design plans and <br />specifications. The proposed improvements include a new spillway, a sand filter blanket along the <br />downstream face of the dam, a perimeter toe drain with flow measuring devices, rip rap placement <br />along the upstream face of the dam, and reconstructing the dam crest. The project was awarded to <br />Zak Dirt, out of Longmont, Colorado, who commenced construction in December of 2000 and is <br />approximately 55% complete. The project is anticipated to be completed by May of200l. <br /> <br />. 8. Pine River Canal Comnanv Pine River Canal Rehabilitation at Tunnel Hill <br /> <br />Authorization: SB 99.173 <br />Water Source: Pine River <br />Terms of Loan: $243,700@3.5%for20yrs. <br /> <br />County: La Plata - SE ofIgnacio <br />Project Yield: 71,000 acre feet <br />Project Type: Canal Rehabilitation <br /> <br />This $350,000 project is the rehabilitation of the Pine River Canal at the Tunnei Hill site, <br />located 8 miles southeast of Ignacio. The project consists of replacing a water supply tunnel in <br />poor condition, with approximately 700 lineal feet ofn.inch diameter concrete pipe, bypassing the <br />tunnel completely. The Natural Resource Conservation Service has completed the design plans <br />with CWCB staff completing the construction bid documents. The Pine River Canal Company has <br />retained the services of Gosney and Sons, from Bayfield, Colorado, to construct the project, who <br />commenced construction in November of 2000. The Contractor has completed setting the entire <br />pipe and is currently forming the inlet structure. The project is approximately 85% complete and is <br />anticipated to be totally compiete by April of2001. . <br /> <br />9. Stean3boat Springs <br />Project Yield: 1,250 acre feet <br />Project Type: Ditch Rehabilitation <br /> <br />In 1997 a significant landslide removed approximately 250-ft. of the Woodchuck Ditch. <br />Since that time the Ditch Company has spent significant time and money in temporary repairs to <br />keep the ditch operational.
