"'i'U..)U

MAYOR POLLOCK:

attorney for the Board; I am sure that all of
you know our very able Director, Mr. Larry
Sparks; and MrS. Lee Keating, the secretary of
the Board. Mr. Fred Kroeger from Durango; and
Mr. Clarence Burr from Walden.

I would like to say, on behalf of the Water I
Conservation Board, how very pleased we are to
be down in Fort Morgan today for this very im-
portant meeting, not only for the Board but for
the residents of this area. We won't curtail anyone.
We have hopes of getting the meeting through in
three hours, but certainly we want everyone to
feel that they have had an adequate opportunity
to have their views presented.

I would like to, if I may, ask Mayor Ted
Pollock - first of all to thank him and everyone
in Fort Morgan for their hospitality to us - if
he has a few words of greeting at this time.
Mayor Pollock."

"On behalf of the City of Fort Morgan, as
its Mayor, I wish to extend a sincere welcome
to the members of the Colorado Water Conservation
Board, the Bureau of Reclamation, and all others
interested in one of Colorado's greatest resources,
water. At the regular meeting of the Water Board
a decision will be made; an important decision;
a decision important to everyone along the reaches
of the lower south Platte River.

I

As spokesman for the City Council of the
City of Fort Morgan, I wish to say that the
Council still backs the Board on their decision
of channel storage on the South Platte River.
At this late date, when a decision as to where
the storage is to be located is made, I think it
imperative that we get behind the decision of the
