~:::10U

MR. MILLER:

MR. JENNINGS:

MR. MILLER:

MR. JENNINGS:

MR. STAPLETON:

made to the best of my knowledge as far as
Rifle Gap Dam is concerned. All I know is
that a claim has been made and has been trans-
mitted to the Secretary's office in Washington
for consideration."

I

"Bob, I wanted to ask this question. There
is enough water in Glen Canyon to make a real
test of generation?"

"AS you know, we must have about 6.1 million
acre-feet of water to reach the elevation where
the water will flow through the penstock pipe
down to the turbines. Now, the work on the
first generator is scheduled for completion on
the 19th. That would be the time they can first
be ready to test that first unit. We have, I
forget just what figure it was here on Glen,
5,655,000 acre-feet in Glen at the present
time. We also have 1,600,000 at Flaming Gorge.
So that it would appear that there would be no
question about getting water in Glen Canyon to
make those tests."

"Then part of that water would be supplied
by Flaming Gorge if necessary?"

"It would be supplied from Flaming Gorge.
The thing that we are attempting to do now is
to bank credit from Flaming Gorge with other
agencies, with the REA's, Colorado-Ute, everyone
that we can, so that we can generate power with
a water release from Flaming Gorge. It would
appear that there would be no question about
getting enough water in Glen Canyon to do that
work now. I thi~( the critical thing coming
up would be within the next nine months as far
as Lake Mead is concerned, that elevation there,
in which they cannot generate any further power
there. "

I

"Any further questions of Mr. Jennings?
Thank you very much, Bob.

~le' 11 now turn to Region 7. Mr. Dugan,
would you make tpe report for that Region, please?"
