Reese McCloskey of Durango, Colorado had been engaged in thi' <br />work, Bnd that he, after investigatimg the matter, had come to the conclusion that' <br />it was e,ppropriate and necessary for the 'Board' to make a contribution to carry <br />out thia, undertaking. <br /> <br />Thereupon it was moved; by NiBS Pointe:!' and seconded by <br />Mr. Bailey that the Colorado Water Conservatio~ Board <br />authorize expenditure of $450.00 or $150.00 a month fer <br />three montDs~ to assist, in the employment of legal counsel <br />in conneotion with the interstate problem~ involved in the <br />La. piata River- Basin. . <br /> <br />After vote the motion was unanimously carrie& and declared passed. <br /> <br />.The Board reverted to the coneideratiolD1 or the efforts; being made by <br />six: of the statea to accomplish the ratification by the United States; Senate of the <br />proposed treaty between th~ United: State.. and 11exioo. Hinderlider"that Colcrado <br />contribute it.. proportionat$share with the other five stateS' <br />directly affeoted by thia proposed treaty, in an amount not <br />to excee~ $2,500, 'toward the work inciden~ to the effort to <br />obtaim ratification'or the proposed treaty between the Unitem <br />States; and Mexico, affecting the waters. of the ColorE\do and <br />Ti~ Juana river.. and the Rio Grande. <br /> <br />The motion was seconde& by Attorney General Ireland and upon vote,being <br />taken the motion was declarea unanimously ~ssed. <br /> <br />Judge O'Rour~ brought to the attention of the Board problem.. which are <br />becoming apparent respectimg the fiab, wildlif~ and reoreational ~hasee of water <br />development projects. He explB ined that there should be somepolicy approved by <br />the State of Colorado with respect to thiil' matter, and said that the former direc, <br />of the State Planning Commission had suggested a joint meeting of th~ State P1anni <br />Commission. the Colorado Game end Fiah Commission, and the Colorado Water Conserve <br />Board to consider this matter. He stated that Colorado would; be f aoed with a vel" <br />serioum: problem and that as water development' reservoir-If were being built the <br />reore~tional and fish and wildlife proble!ll1F were becomint more prominent. .. <br />Mr. Nels on stated that this was e most seriouli problem and that the Reclams:ti on <br />Bureau and the Forest Service wer~ interested and had given the matter <br />consideration. Thereupon, it was suggested by Dr. Nelsom that he would take the <br />matter up at the next meeting of the Colnrado State Planning Co~mission, which <br />convened the following day, and that it would seem appropriate for hi~ Commission <br />to take' the leadership in getting the three 1nt~rested Colorado boardm and <br />ccmmissions together. His suggestion was approved by 'the other members of the <br />Board. <br />
