I

money is obtained. The cities of Aurora and
Colorado springs retained Bechtol Corporation
as a consultant for their work on the Home-
stake Project. We have had some initial
meetings with their consultant, Bechtol, to
see how the Homestake Project might effect
the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project, if it does
at all.

We are studying a unit on the Cache la
poudre River to better utilize the water
there. This is in the reconnaissance stage.
Our reconnaissance studies are completed and
the report is being reproduced. These studies
show that we would be justified in going on
into a feasibility study of the Cache la
poudre unit. This unit develops the remain-
ing flood waters that have been, at times,
going to waste down the river. We hope to
make better utilization of water and to save
water. Some of the functions on this project
will be irrigation water, municipal water,
power, recreation, and fish and wildlife
functions. Flood control was tried but there
are not enough benefits there to do much for
flood control.

We are also studying an afterbay below
Green Mountain Dam and Powerplant. This work
was started the 3rd of July. We are just
barely getting into it. The hydrology is a
bit difficult. It is going to take some time.
We have selected two dam sites to study to
see which might better fit into the plan and
an appraisal report is supposed to be done on
this about November. We don't know whether
we'll go on into a feasibility study yet or
not.

I

On the South Platte Basin, the Board
members have the written report here which
has a lot of details in it. I think I'll not
try to go into all of them with the time limit
but I think the most important thing here is
the paragraph about the middle of your page 3.
We were supposed to make a decision on a
