He explained the present status of the Cherry <br />Creek Projeot which is now unler construction. He also called attention <br />to the report on the proposed flood control project on the South Platte, <br />invo lving the con struction of the Chatfield Dam and Reservoir above <br />Denver and channelization downstream as far as Greel "Y' He said that <br />thi s report had been approved by the Chief of Army Engineers and Board <br />of revi ew ani wa s not befo re the Bud get Bureau. He expr essed the hope <br />that thi s proj act might be ino I uded in the next Omnibus F'J,ood Control <br />Authorization Bill. <br /> <br />A full transoript of the statements made by Colonel Smyser appears <br />in the stenographi c repo::t of the meeting on file in the office 0 f the <br />Boa rd . <br /> <br />C. 1>. Wangnild and Robert Townsend, representing the meadow lam <br />water users in the Laramie River Basin, Colorado, appeared before the <br />Board and urged that steps be taken to negotiate wi th Wyoming for the <br />]:llrpose of providing additional water supplies for the meadow land <br />water users in Colorado, in con sideration of the large amount of return <br />flow to the stream from such meadow land irrigation. <br /> <br />They reviewed the contacts which had been made by Colorado meadow <br />lam water users with water users downstream in Wyoming and pointed out <br />that it appeared there 'lB.S an opportunity, in their judi'fllent, that <br />arrangements oould be made between Colorado and Wyoming which would <br />not adversely affect any water users in the t..o States but which, on <br />the contrary, would provide for 1T'OI"6 appropriate am beneficial use of <br />availa ble _ter supplia sin the Laramie River. <br /> <br />After the pres6l1tation rrede by l'essrs. Wangnild and <br />Townsend and discussion of the matter, it was mav'ed by <br />Attorney General Hinkley and seconded by Silmon Smith tint <br />the Director be authorized to JIlSke an investigetion of the <br />si tuation reported by Messrs. 1'Iangnild and Townsen.1, inolud- <br />ing inqui ries on the atti tud e on such a proposed arrangement <br />of transbasin water users in the Fort Collins area in Colorado <br />and make his reccmrnendations to the Board at its next meeting <br />as to any action whioh should be taken; and that the Director <br /> <br />l <br /> <br />r <br />
