He further stated that the first session of the <br />80th Congress had adjourned ~'i thou t any report having been made by the <br />subeommittee. No information i8 now available as to when the report <br />will be made, but it is anticipated that action on the bill veill 'take <br />place during the second session of the 80th Congress. <br /> <br />The Director informed the Board thay various persoTIs and interests <br />in the Craig, Colorado, area hed taken steps to urge the Army Engineers <br />to undertake a flom con tro 1 inve sti gaUon in the vicini ty of Craig. <br />Sane years ago 1\he Army Engil13ers had held a preliminary hearing at <br />Craig to ascertain the occurreIXle of d8ll1aging floods in that area and <br />an estimate of .d8Jr>lges. Since then no intensive investigation has been <br />undertllken. <br /> <br />Colorado' 8 Senators and CongresSIT.en had been urged to induce the <br />Army Engi ne ers to proc eed wi th suc h further inve sti gat ion 8. In line <br />with this request the Director had corresponded with the Army Engineer's <br />office at Los Angeles requestin('; that e reconnaissance be undertaken in <br />the Crai g area at an ear ly d ate in order tha t a basi s rray be laid for <br />the eu tilorization of intensive flood control investigetioll'ls in that <br />section of the State. The Director had been assured by the Los lulgeles <br />office of the Army Engineers that representati ves would be sent into <br />the area at an early date in cOlTIpliatlCe with his request. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Jean S. Breitenstein was called upon by George Bail ey, Vice Chair- <br />man, to report on the status of the v,urk v'hich had been undertaken by <br />Colorado in compiHatlCe wi th the Uni ted States Supreme Court decree <br />rendered in the Nor"th Platte case. Thi. s involved the ascerteinID9nt <br />end record of acrea!';e irrigated in Colorado in North Park, the amount <br />of water stored each year, and the emoun t of v'ater transported from the <br />Basin. He explained that the Boa.rd had maps and records on Nllrth Park <br />irri g;a ted acreage, table s on the reservoir s showing the capa city and <br />amount of water stored themin, and records of exportations in Colorado <br />from.
