Dille and seconded by George Pughe <br />that the Boa rd appro ve the agreement und er which the Stat;;. the <br />U.S. Geologice1 Survey and the Bureau of ReclaIMtion proposes <br />to undertske the further underground weter investigations in <br />the San Luis Valley. <br /> <br />The mot ion "0'" s unanimously carri ed and declared adopted. <br /> <br />L. Ward Bannister moved the adoption of the following resolution: <br /> <br />llliSO LUTION <br /> <br />1'IHEREAS it appe aI's t hat the Commi s sioner of the Bureau of <br />Reclamation is giving consideration to closing, in the near <br />fu.t ure , the San Luis Valley Project office at Ilonte Vista, <br />Colorado; and <br /> <br />1'IHEREAS this office should be ne.intained at the present <br />time for the purpose of completing land classifications on the <br />Rio Grande Unit of the San Luis Vall ey Project, car:rying out <br />the stage developtnent and completing pre-construction designing <br />for the Conejos Unit of the San Luis Vallay Project, participlting <br />in the undergrouIrl weter investL;ation which i~ of vital concern <br />to final plans fa I' the Rio Grand e Uni t of the proj ect, and for <br />the accompli shment of other important and necessary ViOrk before <br />the San Luis Valley Project can go into construction; and it <br />appearing that tl1e re-e st.bli shment of the office 'in a compara- <br />tively short time lIOuld be necessary in any event to carry out <br />construction of the project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS efforts have been made by United States Senawr~ <br />frOO' Colorado to induce the Commissioner of the Bureau of Recla- <br />mation to retain the necessary personnel in' the Y:W1te Vista <br />otfice to accomplish the work above-mentioned; <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Colorado Water Con- <br />servation Board, that the Board opposes the closing of the Bureau <br />ot Reclamation project office at 1'onte Vista, Colorado, and that <br />the Director of the Board take all necessary steps which he may <br />deem proper and appropriate to support the Colorado Senators in <br />urging the maintenance of such office. <br /> <br />J.
