had become greatly weakened by cracking and
was in need of steel sets through most of
its length. During the construction season
some difficulty was experienced with slight
vertical settling of the sets, but this was
corrected when the first invert was installed.
The contract is now about 65 percent completed.
The tunnel will be ready for water delivery
this spring.

AS an item of interest, the Central Utah
project has been started. It is one of the
participating projects, the principal project
for the state of Utah. Bids were opened on
February 16th for construction of the 2,920-
foot-long, 150-foot-high starvation Dam near
Duchesne, utah. An apparent low bid of
$8,182,750 was received. Award of the con-
tract is pending. Bids were also opened
during February for the Knight Diversion
Dam on the Duchesne River and for the Starva-
tion Feeder Conduit which will convey water
from the Knight Diversion Dam over to Starva-
tion Reservoir. The starvation Feeder Conduit
is approxi~ately one mile long and will con-
sist of a concrete-lined tunnel about 7 feet
in diameter. Total construction cost of the
Starvation complex is estimated t~ be about
$20 million.

Moving on to the CRSP Transmission sys-
tem, this system is nearing completion as
presently planned. Mr. Droskin reported to
you on the progress on the poncha-Midway sec-
tion of this line. The 230-kv lines from
Cheyenne to Glen canyon and the two 345-kv
lines from Glen Canyon to Phoenix are in oper-
ation. The Curecanti-poncha section of the
Curecanti-Midway 230-kv line is completed and
excellent progress is being made on the Poncha-
Midway section. The Rifle Substation, roads,
and other final items remain. The Flagstaff
Substation has been completed and only final
checkout work remains.
