area. If the need for industrial water for coal production or coal
gasification arises, the project could be altered to provide up to
30,000 acre-feet annually by eliminating some of the service from
portions of new lands, changing it over to municipal and industrial
water.

I

The most significant adverse effect of the project's construction will
be the loss of deer, elk and antelope, and sage grouse areas. It is
proposed in the report to acquire lands outside the project area that
would be developed to increase the carrying capacity for wildlife which
would outset these detrimental effects.

For the tour this afternoon we have (Is ptr. Sherman here?)
he will pass out. We also have a brief explanation of the
that will give more detail that Jake will hand out to you.
Mr. Chairman, are there any questions?

a map that
projects
With that

Mr. Stapleton: Thank you, Ed. Are there any questions from members
of the hoard?

~tr. Cornelius: Ed, I notice in Wyoming all of the lands are not
included in the conservancy district. Is that right?

Mr. Wiscombe: We are working on that problem. It depends on where the
exact water supply will be able to cover. Do you want to respond to
that, ptr. Rinckel?

Mr. Rinckel: Yes. Also in Colorado we have some lands outside the
conservancy district.

Incidentally, Mr. Darwin Dunn of the Pot Hook Water Conservancy Dis-
trict is here today and also Mr. Nelson Wren of the Little Snake River
Conservancy District is here today.

Mr. Dunn: I think Mr. Harry Russell is also here.

I want to thank the board for what they have done. When we attended
your meeting in Denver and you set your priorities, we have to admit I
the people were disappointed and their morale dropped considerably
considering where you put us on your priority. For some reason or
other we are back in here. We don't quite understand it, but we are
not going to knock it.

(Laughter)

-28-
