..,..".....-

I

hensive studies, will consider, as I have indi-
cated, not only flood control, we will consider
in coope~ation with ot~ers, irrigation, power,
municipal and industrial water supplies, water
qua1ity control, and 6ther allied uses of water.

At the present time we f~ndthere are some
rather difficuit problems in Colorado in connec-
tion with major phreatophytes. This is not new
to you, I'm sure. It has been mentioned many
times here. The phreatophyte probiem is a diffi-
cult one. There may be a need for multiple-
purpose development in connection with storage
for municipal and industrial water supply and
water quality control. We are cooperating closely
with the Public Health Service in connection
with the need for water supply; that is, munici-
pal and industrial water supply, and water quality
control. As you know, this is a requirement. We
must do it and so, therefore, our studies will be
much more detailed. We know the State University has a
great deal of information with respect to the
economic development, the phreatophyte problem
and the social and economic problems within the
state.

I

I would like to ask you to seriously consider
establishing some kind of a coordination group
here in Colorado which might meet regularly,
maybe quarterly or on some such basis, in order
that we may get your ideas regarding the needs
of this state and help us, together with the
other agencies, to solve some of these very seri-
ous problems.

The future, as I see it, of water resource
development in Colorado is great. The problems
