<br />.JJ/.G <br /> <br />Moving on to the Curecanti Unit, the prime <br />contract at the Blue Mesa Dam is now about 40 <br />percent completed. The contractor did complete <br />placement of concrete in the diversion tunnel <br />and the downstream flip bucket. There yet re- <br />mains to be some lining placed in the spillway <br />raise prior to diversion of the river. He anti- <br />cipate that this diversion will take place within <br />a month's time. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Morrow Dam and Powerplant is under construc- <br />tion. The contractor has established offices at <br />the site and his principal work has consisted of <br />excavation of pioneer roads around the dam area. <br />Clearing of the Morrow Point Reservoir was com- <br />pleted in late June of this year. <br /> <br />Of the three segments of highway relocation <br />around Blue Mesa Reservoir, one has been completed <br />as you know; the second is scheduled for comple- <br />tion within ten days and is to be opened for <br />travel at that time; the third section is under <br />contract and the contractor is making very good <br />progress. There is yet one other section of the <br />highway to be completed to link up these three <br />sections. That is a section in which the Bureau <br />of Reclamation is not involved and is the respon- <br />sibility of the Colorado Highway Department. <br /> <br />Excellent progress has been made on the <br />transmission lines. For the sake of time I will <br />not read the ones that have been completed. They <br />are included in your report which. I think, you <br />all have copies of in your folders. <br /> <br />He anticipate very little field work on the <br />microwave radio system for the storage Project. <br />Activity this fall and winter will consist prin- <br />cipally of planning and manufacturing of equip- <br />ment, with the work being performed in the field <br />this coming spring. Construction of the adminis- <br />tration and dispatching headquarters at Montrose <br />is under way. Work principally completed to date <br />is the footing for the building. We are contin- <br />uing to build up a personnel for operation. At <br />the present time we have 31 people that are in <br />residence in Montrose for this operation. We <br /> <br />I <br />
