.JJ/.G Moving on to the Curecanti Unit, the prime contract at the Blue Mesa Dam is now about 40 percent completed. The contractor did complete placement of concrete in the diversion tunnel and the downstream flip bucket. There yet re- mains to be some lining placed in the spillway raise prior to diversion of the river. He anti- cipate that this diversion will take place within a month's time. I Morrow Dam and Powerplant is under construc- tion. The contractor has established offices at the site and his principal work has consisted of excavation of pioneer roads around the dam area. Clearing of the Morrow Point Reservoir was com- pleted in late June of this year. Of the three segments of highway relocation around Blue Mesa Reservoir, one has been completed as you know; the second is scheduled for comple- tion within ten days and is to be opened for travel at that time; the third section is under contract and the contractor is making very good progress. There is yet one other section of the highway to be completed to link up these three sections. That is a section in which the Bureau of Reclamation is not involved and is the respon- sibility of the Colorado Highway Department. Excellent progress has been made on the transmission lines.
