""'""" ~

the job is the completion of foundation for Unit
No. 1.

I

As you all know, we have had a very dry year
this year. Our storage at Lake Powell is approxi-
mately two-thirds of what we anticipated and in
the report we have figures on storage as about
the 1st of this month. For your interest, I
secured the more recent figures as of September
9th. At that time we had 2,392,000 acre-feet of
water in storage. The reservoir was 257 feet
deep immediately above the dam and the reservoir
was then 123 miles long.

Moving on to the Flaming Gorge project, we
have scheduled this month, and I think we'll meet
the schedule, for generation of the first storage
project power from this project. We will go into
commercial power production immediately thereafter,
depending upon the results of the tests made on
this project.

He expect to get the other two units in in
about three months intervals or in six months time
from now we should be able to generate full com-
mercial power from this installation.

As to the storage in Flaming Gorge, on the
1st of the month we had about 785,000 acre-feet
of water. The reservoir extends upstream 60
miles and has a depth of about 325 feet. This is
54 feet higher than our minimum powerhead required
for generation.

I

An additional item at the Flaming Gorge Res-
ervoir, the problem of administration of.the
recreational facilities has finally been settled
and a memorandum agreement has been executed be-
tween the National Park Service, the Forest Ser-
vice and the Bureau of Reclamation.

At Navajo Dam, the principal item that has
taken place is that this structure has been trans-
ferred from a construction status to an operation
and maintenance status. In Navajo Reservoir we
have 365,000 acre-feet of storage.
