<br />6. Denver Director's Report <br />Tape 1 , Start/Stop: 1755 - 2205 <br />Action: Patricia Wells presented her report. She stated that forest thinning has <br />become the new mantra of the U.S. Forest Service. The practice was <br />effective in controlling the High Meadows Fire but the Fish and Wildlife <br />Service is concerned about the effects on the endangered species when <br />thinning equipment was moved into the area. She pointed out the <br />dangers of operations in the area where an endangered butterfly species <br />might be located. The Forest Service is seeking a programmatic <br />biological opinion. She also indicated her concerns about the U.S. Forest <br />Service's involvement in the South Platte River Protection Plan which is <br />an alternative to wild and scenic designation, and the need for help from <br />State Parks. Information item; no action taken. <br /> <br />6b. North Platte River Basin Director's Report <br />Tape 1 , Start/Stop: 2218 - 2231 <br />Action: Bob Burr presented the report for his basin. Information item; no action <br />taken. <br /> <br />6c. Platte River Basin Director's Report <br />Tape 1, Start/Stop: 2234 - 2525 <br />Action: Eric Wilkinson presented the report for his basin. He indicated that there <br />is a Water Management Alternative Study being developed. CWCB <br />Board members and staff have been meeting to move this project forward <br />as quickly as possible. He also discussed recreationallnstream flow <br />items and distributed calendars to the Board members so a workshop can <br />be scheduled. He is scheduling basin meetings for October. Information <br />item; no action taken. <br /> <br />6d. Platte River Endangered Species Cooperative Agreement - South Platte Water <br />Tape 1, Start/Stop: 2534 - 3469 <br />Action: Kent Holsinger and Rick Brown presented information about the South <br />Platte Cooperative Agreement and the South Platte Water Study. This <br />was an information item and no action was taken. <br /> <br />7a. Arkansas River Basin Director's Report <br />Tape 1: Start/Stop: 3481 - 3553 <br />Action: Harold Miskel reported that the SEWCD Preferred Studies Option Plan is <br />virtually completed but he will wait until November to report on this plan in <br />detail and Steve Arvescough will attend the meeting and report progress <br />on the implementation of the plan. This was an information item and no <br />action was taken. <br /> <br />7b.
