The Natural Resource Conservation Service, Glenwood Springs Office <br />has completed the design and the project commenced construction in November of2001. Project is <br />scheduled to be substantially complete by June 2002, <br /> <br />10, People's Ditch Companv - People Ditch Diversion Structure Rehabilitation <br /> <br />Authorization: Small Project Loan <br />Water Source: South Platte River <br />Terms of Loan: $43,000 @3,75% for 20 years <br /> <br />COWlty: Logan - N,E, of Sterling <br />Project Yield: 1,200 ac,ft, <br />Project Type: Diversion Structure <br /> <br />The People's Ditch Company historically diverted irrigation water from the South Platte River at an <br />existing diversion point located approximately 6 miles northwest of the Town of Sterling, This existing <br />diversion structure was damaged during the flood of 1995 and was entirely washed out in 1997, The <br />proposed project is to construct a new diversion structure along the Bravo Ditch, therefore eliminating the <br />need for the existing structure, and then construct approximately 1050 l.f, of 24" pipeline to transport the <br />flow from the Bravo Ditch back to Peoples Ditch, Bravo Ditch has agreed to allow People Ditch to convey <br />their decree flows through their ditch system and then divert it back to the existing People Ditch by means of <br />the new diversion structure, The project currently under construction and is anticipated to be completed by <br />June 2002, <br /> <br />11. Appleton Northwest Lateral (ML369) and Drainage Corp, - Lateral Reconstruction <br /> <br />Authorization: Small Project Loan <br />Water Source: Grand Valley Canal <br />Terms of Loan: $100,000 @2,75% for 30 years <br /> <br />COWlty: Mesa - E, of Grand Junction <br />Project Yield: 950 Acre-feet <br />Project Type: Lateral Reconstruction <br /> <br />The Appleton Lateral is located in Mesa County, operated by the Ditch Company for the benefit of its <br />28 shareholders by providing irrigation water to a 250-acre service area, The existing 3,2 miles oflateral is <br />open channel and is in poor condition and prone to flooding, The improvements consist of piping the open <br />ditch lateral with plastic pressurized pipe, constructing individual taps for each shareholders, and <br />constructing a new headgate at the Grand Valley Canal.
