<br />to Morrow Point Switchyard: and installation <br />of equipment at the Curecanti Substation for <br />energizing the Curecanti-Midway transmission <br />line at 230 kilovolts. <br /> <br />The high voltage transmission lines of I <br />the Bureau of Reclamation and the Public <br />Service Company of Colorado were inter con- , <br />nected at the Rifle substation on October <br />15, 1968. The Rifle substation consists of <br />several large 230-kv. circuit breakers that <br />permit the Bureau of Reclamation's Hayden- <br />Curecanti line and the Public Service Com- <br />pany's line from Leadville to Cameo to be <br />operated as if they were parts of a single <br />system. This inter tie was made on a shared~ <br />expense basis between the Company and the <br />Bureau. <br /> <br />Construction work has been finished on <br />the access roads for the Curecanti-Rifle <br />transmission line. The contractor at Midway <br />substation has completed over 90 percent of <br />his work and expects to fully complete the <br />Bureau portion of the substation before the <br />year's end. An intertie with the Public <br />Service Company of Colorado will also be <br />JIIade at Midway. <br /> <br />On our Paonia project, bids were opened <br />November 7th for the rehabilitation of three <br />reaches of Colorado Highway No. 133 along <br />Paonia Reservoir. The rehabilitation in- <br />cludes realining approximately one-half mile <br />of road and providing a wide ditch burn <br />section on the upper stream side of the road <br />for catching the fall of rocks which have <br />been quite dangerous in the past: construc- <br />tion of a concrete retaining wall between I <br />the highway and the spillway at the dam, and <br />resloping areas along the right side of the <br />spillway: unwatering the spillway stilling <br />basin and general cleanup work.
