Mr. Crawford: "1 thought it would be well to present to the
Board the statement I made before the Subcommittee of the House
Committee on'Appropriations. (A brief discussion followed on
this matter). I shall be glad to answer any questions. I
should like to call your attention to one reaction - Orchard
Mesa Division. Mr. Jensen said that is an old going concern
and might well Dorrow money from a bank.'"

Mr. Bailey: "Any other questions? If not, we will pass to

lO. Breitenstein's Contract.

Mr. Crawford: "I have a letter addressed to the Colorado Water
Conservation Board, dated April 9, 1954 from Jean S. Breitenstein:

Gentlemen:

The January 9, 1954 contract wherein I am employed
as the attorney for the Colorado Water Conservation
Board provides that it mayb e terminated by either
party upon thirty days written notice, one to the other.
In view of my prospective appointment as judge for the
United States District Court for the "District of Colo-
rado, I must terminate this contract. Accordingly~
notice is hereby given that th~ contract is terminated
as of May 3l, 1954.

I v~ll always be grateful to those officials of
the State of Colorado who have permitted me to serve
as" attorney for t he Water Conservatibn ~Board for a
number of years. It has indeed been a rich and
satisfying experience.
