.;j61

. .

The above Resolution was duly adopted at a meeting
of the Gunnison ~atershed Conservation Committee held
at Gunnison, Colorado on April 22, 1954.

/s/ Guy J. Cox
Secretary

(

Mr. Bailey: IIAny other questions or comments on Item 3? If not
we will pass to Item 4.11

4. Report on Budget for 1954-55.

Mr. Crawford: liThe budget presented to the last legislature
passed with t.l:te exception of a few items. There was cut out
of the budget a total of $10,000 ~TIich had been requested for
printing purposes. While highly desirable, the lack of this
money will not greatly handicap us. We requested $12,500 for
Underground water cooperative surveys! We received $7,500.00."

4. (aO Ground Water Surveys.

Mr. Crawford: IIDuring the dust disaster period I wrote a letter
to Governor Thornton requesting that we be given $5,000 from his
emergency fund to test some areas in the dust bowl. He has pro-
vided the funds. We have had a supplementary contract dItavm up
with the U. S. Geological Survey whereby they will cooperate
by matching this amount. What I want at this time is the authority
from the Board to execute this contract covering this amount. II'

Mr. Dutcl1er: III MOVE that the Dir€lCtor's recommendation to execute
the $5,000.00 contract be approved.1I

Mr. Pughe: II~ SECOND the MOTION.II MOTION CARRIED.

4. NRA Financial Support.

Mr. Christy: "For a good many years Colorado finanCial support
for this organization has been set at $3,200 a year. The job of
collecting that money has always been handled by the Director.
Colorado is delinquent. (At this point Mr. Christy discussed
and explained the NRA Financial support). It occurs to me that
maybe it might be appropriate for the State of Colorado to make
an appropriation to support the NRA. The Water Board certainly
does not have anything like the expense in this matter that they
have had in the past. It is a question of whether this Board
could or would officially support this organization. II

I

Mr. Crawford: ''I have looked through the minutes and I find a'"
notation to the effect that.the Water Board is~not able:to:sua-
scribe to this organization.1I

Mr. Christy: II'I would lile to have you give me a prospective list
for a NRA mailing list."'
