"fo/,

Mr. Beaty: "Is it a joint project between the army en-
gineers and the Bureau of Reclamation?"

Mr. Gildersleeve: "Yes".

I

Mr. Powell: "The repay~ent study was made by farmers ap-
pointed from the irrigation companies in the area and the
report was consolidated after they determined how much
they could pay. The farmers actually were.in on the ,main
study. "

lVlr. Dille: "Will the city of Trinidad get any municipal
supplies for the city of Trinidad?"

Mr. Powell: "Not at this time."

Col. Barnes: "Before any construction could start, be-
fore any work can begin on this project, after it is
authorized, the local people have five years to meet the
requirements. of Congress. If after five years they have
not met these requirements, the project would automatically
become deauthorized."

I

Mr. Moses: "Is there anybody here from the Trinidad area
that is opposed to it?"

Mr. Kancilia: "All of the People who attended the various
meetings we have conducted on this project are very much in
favor of it. We have about 9810 in favor of the project. No
one that we know of is opposed to this project."

]vIr. Dutcher: "Has the ]lIjodel reservoir been contacted in
regard to the transfer of their rights?"

Mr. Kancilia: "Yes."

]

Mr. O'Conner: "This project has been the subject of several
meetings in Trinidad over a number of years. It has been
worked on over a period of years. It dates back some ten
years or so. We have conferred repeatedly with the Bureau
of Reclamation and the U. S. Senators. Several meetings have
been held in Trinidad which were attended by vitally interes-
ted agricultural and livestock men of the community. IVluch of
the survey work has been done by committees appointed by
the people. We feel in our particular area the people have
been contacted repeatedly. There is an overwhelming majority
of sentiment favoring the project. Every effort should be
made to satisfy the people of Trinidad, Colorado."

Mr. Bailey: "Senator Veltri, the Board would like to hear
your views on this."

Mr. Veltri: "I think you are getting the information you are
interested in and as stated by John O'Conner and Dr. Donnelly,
we are ready to go and get the ball rolling."
