It was rejuvenated in 1938, and this is <br />a new figure to the people of 1rinidad. 1hat was a <br />recommendation by the board of.Hivers and Harbors. <br />Naturally we will attempt to have Congress delete that, <br />if possible." <br /> <br />Mr. Moses: "Are you able to say, generally speaking,' <br />the people in that area are in favor of this report?" <br /> <br />Dr. Donnelly: "Yes. I am also glad to hear:Mr. Chr~sty <br />say that his pepple will not protest this." <br /> <br />Mr. Dutcher: "I think a report should be submitted to <br />the people of the community. What has.been the practice?" <br /> <br />Mr. Crawford: "The law says that a report must be sub- <br />mitted to the State of Colorado." <br /> <br />Mr. Nixon: "I would like to inform the Board that with <br />respect to a water conservancy district in Trtnidad, ~e <br />have had several meetings and we have appointed a committee <br />of which Mr. Christy is a member to study the setting up of <br />a conservancy district. The people are in accord with that <br />along those particular lines and they have been informed <br />along those particular lines." <br /> <br />Mr. Bailey: "In conformity with the law we have been <br />furnished with only one copy of this report. Mr. Gilder- <br />sleeve has been working on it but so far as 1 know, the <br />local people have not had a chance to examine it, have they?" <br /> <br />Mr. Gil.dersleeve: "I am sure the report has been made in <br />cooperation with the local people. A preliminary report <br />was circulated in November 1952, asking for comments. Then <br />after the report was revised in conformance with those <br />comments, it went on up through the division, then to the <br />Board of Rivers and Harbors, and then to the .Chief Engineer. <br />A copy of this final re1port has been sent, I am sure, to <br />the Trinidad officials, to Kansas and the Arkansas Hiver <br />Compact Administration.
