+'7

-,

Mr. Bailey: nMy personal op~n~on is that we are going to
have a lot of industrial development on the Western Slope.
It is bound to come and it is going to need quite a bit
of water. The question in my mind here is where are such
projects set up here in the Cliffs-Divide report? I think
they must spend considerable money on the DeBeque for this
industrial work. I think we have a pressing problem. This
industrial development.~ight come up in five or ten years.
How are we going to get the. water supply? The question of
industrial supply of water over there is very important."
. .

I

Mr. Dutcher: "Prank, did you hear what the chairman said?
Has your group discussed that at all?n

Mr. Merriell: nNo, not specifically. We feel that the
industrial development is getting awfully close."

Mr. Crawford: "On three occasions I have asked as to what.
Colorado's stand is with regard to the DeBeque. I have
replied that Colorado does not want a study of the DeBeque
as a part of the Cisco-Thompson project. Colorado wants. a
study made. for domestic use, power and industry."

Mr. Bailey: nAnyone here from Region 4 yet?"

,

Mr. Finlinson.: "Yes".

Mr. Bailey: "1 don't understand what these special benefits
are."

Mr. Finlinson: "That comes about on new lands. There is a
benefit for the settlement of new lands."

Mr. Bailey: "What does it mean?"

Mr. Finlinson: "The report will probably go into more detail
than I can."

Mr. Bailey: nr can't figure out any money value to it.n

Mr~ Finlinson: :ihere is a monetary benefit. r can't tell
you more today, r m sorry. We are going .by the benefit cost
ratio. Region 4 has been concentrating on these reconniassance I
projects~ We are now pretty much finishing up on these
reconn~assance type reports."
