NR. PETERSON:

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. KNIGHTS:

MR. STAPLETON:

"What is going to happen in the meantime
then? Are any decisions going to be made?"

"Nr. Knights has already said, I think, that
they are in a very preliminary stage. He
couldn't tell you, probably, a lot more than
he did before about what's going on, as I recall
his statement."

I'

"I might amplify a little on that. First,
I just now, in the last few minutes, read Sec-
tion 19 and certainly we'd have no objection,
naturally, to the establishment of that commis-
sion. But I can make this statement and I have
made this before and Len, you have perhaps
already said this while I was out a while ago,
that these studies that we are making at the
present time in no way will enhance the importa-
tion potential of either one of these projects.
There will be no more water taken off the
western slope by either one of these projects
through these studies. Ne may hold the waters
on the eastern slope and naturally, if we are
going to do it, it must be of mutual benefit or
there is no use of doing it at all. So I'm not
claiming that no one gets any benefit from this.
The thing is that it will save dollars. It
makes no difference to the western slope one way
or the other if dollars are spent as to the
amount of water that might be transported to the
eastern slope.

I don't know whether that will clarify any-
thing or not. Perhaps you have already said
that, Len."

"Frank, you knOvl we have always hoped that
we would have resolutions in prior to meetings
and this has been our rule. Ne haven't made it
to obstruct anybody. The idea of Section 19
has obviously caught many of us unprepared, even
people with more intimate knowledge of this
matter than I have. So I would ask you if you
would have any objections at this time to our
considering your proposal at the next neeting,
along with the resolution which is still before
the Board?"

I
