$15,436,066. This was approximately $4 million
below the Engineer's estimate. As you know, this
will be the first underground powerplant to be
constructed by the Bureau of Reclamation.

Also on the Curecanti Project the Colorado
Department of Highways has opened bids for
another segment of the highway for relocation
around Blue Mesa Reservoir. This contract for
about $2.7 million includes six miles of Highway
50 and three miles of Colorado Highway 149. In
this schedule will be included a rather spectacu-
lar bridge which will be 518-feet-long and will
cross back over the Gunnison River 70 feet above
the river.

As far as the transmission lines are con-
cerned, I think we mentioned before that all of
the original network of lines necessary to
deliver the initial power from the Storage
Project are under construction. Also contracts
have been awarded for construction of the prin-
cipal substations at Pinnacle Peak, Curecanti,
Hayden and Shiprock. Now the remaining trans-
mission lines left to be constructed include the
230-kv line from pinnacle Peak to Mesa and the
line that Jim just mentioned in here from Hayden
to Archer. Archer is a substation just on the
outskirts of Cheyenne. There is also a revision
in the original Craig-Oak Creek line to bring
this line into the Hayden Substation and an 8-
mile experimental section in the Glen Canyon-
Shiprock 230-kv line.

Temporary office quarters for the Power
Operations Center for the storage Project were
opened in Montrose during March. Award of con-
tract is pending on the microwave radio system
for supervision and control of the power system
at this Operation Office.

I think a few of you gentlemen were in
attendance at the recent dedication of Crawford
Dam by the Secretary. This represents another
project. that is completed on the western slope,
or substantially completed. It is in the stage
of seasoning and testing of the project works.
