basin opens the possibility of the need for new mills to process these
uranium ores. We also believe the need for water-driven power plants
is an important new aspect that should be considered with the con-
struction of the San Miguel project, since there may be several pos-
sibilities for establishing water-driven power plants as part of the
project.

In summary:

I

1. The San Miguel basin is"isolated'.and without a viable economy and
needs the San Miguel project to become a part of the main stream
of society.

2. The majority of the people in the San Miguel basin are unified
behind the San Miguel project and will continue to work hard for
it.

3. The state of Colorado needs to disperse the population evenly
throughout the state, and we need the San Miguel project to pro-
vide an economic base for attracting some of the people away from
the Front Range corridor.

4. It is extremely important that the San Miguel project, as well as
all five Colorado projects, be constructed concurrently with the
Central Arizona project so that Colorado is assured of its share
of the Colorado River.

5. The current energy crisis opens new avenues of approach that show
a potential need for water to develop energy resources in the
San Miguel basin.

I thank you, gentlemen, for your time and will be happy to try to
answer any questions.

Mr. Stapleton: Thank you, Mike. Any questions on the San Miguel
project?

Mr. Kroeqer: Ben, I would like to ask Mike a question. Mike, how
many people came to this meeting today with you. 'people?

I

Mr. Younq: Three others besides myself.

Mr. Kroeqer: How did you get over here? What funds do you use?

-6l-
