Mr. Berthelson: What 1 was trying.to say Jerry, it might not make
any difference.whether you are four or where you a~e if you could
achieve a funding schedule which is substantial which ~dtild put you
in the construction stage along with one or two other projects.

Mr. Goldsmith: It sure might help us to have a clarification, a I
better understariding of this, but if the Governor and the director
here are going to go to Washington with a list that has Fruitland
Mesa down as number four or five or whatever it is, what is this going
to mean to these people up there in Washington about what the state
of Colorado thinks about the need and the necessity for the Fruitland
Mesa project?

Mr. Berthelson: Well, we will assume that they are all understanding
and the priority schedule, if there is one established, isn't going
to say that number one will get all the money. Regardless of what
happens, all of these projects will be in the mill in some manner,
shape or form. There will be more emphasis on some. You are ready
for construction funding and if you get your fair share of the con-
struction money along with the other projects that are ready for con-
struction, I would think that probably you wouldn't be too bad off.

Mr. Goldsmith: I certainly appreciate that.

Mr. Ford: According to the schedule set forth by Larry, $500,000 for
fiscal year 1974 and then $6,000,000 for fiscal year 1975, and
$14,700,000 for fiscal year 1976, would put you in good shape.

Mr. Goldsmith: It's kind of tough to react to this off the top of
your head, but it strikes me that if the board could consider having
two categories and have your one, two, three, under the planning and
so forth, and then have another category under construction. And if
we could see Fruitland Mesa showing up there number one under some
category, it would make us feel like the trip.over might have been
worthwhile. I don't think you can slice this thing to make it appear
any other way than what the Fruitland project is downgraded, if it
shows up on some list out of the state of Colorado that has number
four in front of it. Again, I am certainly not as well informed as
I want to be before the day is over.

I

Mr. Ford: No specific number is set for any of them yet. There are
others to be heard from yet too.

Mr. Goldsmith: To go back a little bit and try to correct the records

-43-
