miles out of some 175 miles that will be inundated.

Mr. Sparks: Nell, actually the total river canyon would be over 200
miles.

Mr. Ford: It would be very, very little of the scenic part of the
canyon that ~ould be inundated.

Mr. Kinkade: I think it would make that portion of the river really
more accessible to sightseers and those that wish to run their boats
down ,the river.

Mr,.' Stapleton: Any further questions from members of the board?

Mr, Sparks: I pointed out in this memorandum that we have had a small
problem in connection with the water rights. I want to ask the
Montezuma Valley board, do you feel that there is a real need for
supplemental water in the Montezuma Valley area?

Mr. Roqers: I would:say definitely yes. Last fall we suffered a
severe defficiency in water. And in fact, outside of some very high
runoff years, I think you could say that basically there i,s hardly
a year goes by that we are not defficient in enough water to make a
full crop.

Mr. Sparks: And you have to reduce the deliveries to your subscribers
every year?

Mr. Roqers: That's right. Generally speaking, some months in June
generally, most often in July and then in the fall it gets cut down
to a small amount. So I would say again, that we certainly need
supplemental water very badly.

Mr. Ford: Mr. Rogers, what storage facilities do you have now?

Mr. Roqers: We have three storage .reservoirs, Ground Hog, Narraguinnep
and Totten.

Mr, Sparks: What is the approximate total capacity of those three
reservoirs?

Mr. Roqers: Ground Hog is 20,000 acre-feet, Narraguinnep is a little
over.20,000 and Totten is 2,500 to 3,000, I believe, in that neigh-
borhood. That would be 45,000 roughly, in round figures.

-37-

I

I
