San Mbuel Project <br /> <br />a. <br /> <br />Definite Plan Report and Draft Environmental State- <br />ment scheduled for completion in December 1977. <br /> <br />Plan is being reformulated to serve national and local <br />needs and reduce project's adverse impact on salinity. I <br />A recommended plan should be selected by December 1975. <br /> <br />Authorized plan included 78,000 acre-feet of irrigation <br />water for 39,000 acres of land and 44,000 acre-feet of <br />M&I water and cost about $106 ml.11ion. Natural <br />resources of area include coal, oil, potash, gypsum - <br />to name a few. <br /> <br />b. <br /> <br />c. <br /> <br />d. <br /> <br />While scale and scope of reformulated plan could be <br />different than that authorized - all functions will <br />be considered. <br /> <br />Are looking for guidance and imput from local and <br />state interests. <br /> <br />e. <br /> <br />5. Fruitland Mesa Proiect <br /> <br />a. A Definite Plan Report on this project was released <br />in June 1967. Repayment contract has been executed. <br />An environmental assessment has been completed and <br />draft statement is scheduled for August 1975. <br /> <br />b. Project would develop water from Soap, Curecanti and <br />Crystal Creeks, all tributary to the Gunnison. Flows <br />would be controlled at Soap Park and Gould Reservoirs. <br />Various canals would be enlarged or replaced. <br /> <br />c. Project lands totaling 19,000 acres are located <br />between town of Crawford and the Black Canyon of the <br />Gunnison. They would be supplied about 58,000 acre- <br />feet of water. <br /> <br />d. General <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />Increase in salinity concentration at Imperial <br />Dam is estimated at 3.3 mg/l. <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />Benefits would accrue to fisheries and recreation I <br />functions. <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />Costs total about $50 million and benefit-cost <br />ratio is about 1.7:1. <br /> <br />6. .
