Input from <br />public meetings and resource inventory studies will <br />provide feasibility data leading to a plan of develop- <br />ment by the end of fiscal 1975. <br /> <br />5. A new feasibility investigation under current <br />principles and standards is now underway. <br /> <br />(1) Investi?ation has new urgency because of the <br />project s possible role in providing water for <br />energy development, particularly for the nearby <br />oil shale reserves. <br /> <br />(2) Consideration will continue to be given to <br />possibilities for irrigation" development, pres- <br />ervation of the environment, development of <br />recreational opportunities, and preservation <br />of fish and wildlife values. <br /> <br />(3) The new investigation will have as a valuable <br />base the work already accomplished under tra- <br />ditional methods of evaluation and reported <br />in the proposed feasibility reports of October <br />1968 and April 1972. <br /> <br />b. Work to be accomplished in FY 1975 will utilize <br />$75,000 of FY 1974 carryover funds. <br /> <br />c. With the organization of a MOP team, public hearings, <br />and resource inventories, a plan of development can <br />probably be proposed about a year from now. <br /> <br />6. Colorado River Water Quality Improvement Pro~ram <br /> <br />a. Initial investigations for the ten year Colorado <br />River water quality improvement program began in <br />FY 1972. <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />Authority: Colorado River Project and Participating <br />Projects Act (PL 84-485).
