Over
that time, we have been amazed at the growth and progress made throughout
Summit County. The building and commercialization has brought needed
volume for the loc:al businesses and prosperity for developers. The quality of
life for the vacationers and the loc:aJs has been refined to offer any living and
shopping conveniences of a sprawling suburban area. Unfonunately, it has not
been without an environmental price to the entire county.

The most recent issue is the efforts of Brec:kenridge developers to lay clAim to
the water rights of Miner'. Creek. If diverted, the water would allow
Breckenridge a new water source for snow making and increase the Vcllue and
marketability of the land along the new water way. Miner's Creek is a natural
stream which feeds two Jakes, Rainbow and Bill's .Ranch Lake, with tributaries
into multiple wetlands and Lake Dillon. If the water source is eliminated, so
would be the natural habitat for ALL the water dependent wildlife including the
beaver and spawning trout.

We would like to encourage the Water Conservation Board to couserve this
bastion of historic beauty for SWDDIit County before the only tourist attractions
left are outlet malls and chair lifts.

Sincerely, ~

K~ruc:e Given
Bedminster, New Jersey
Frisco, Colorado
