The property touches a beaver pond on one end and Bill's Ranch Lake on
the other. There is also a small creek that runs by our cabin. We fell in love with the
mountains, the scenery, the peace, and the joys of the water near us. The importance
of the lakes and stream increased greatly with the arrival of our three children.
We have so many memories of evening walks to see the beavers and to listen
for their slaps of their tails. There were m;;lny crude rafts made by nailing three pieces
of wood together for the pond. They barelY held a small child but what an
accomplishment for our three builders.
The stream was perfect for sailing u@ed milk cartons. Hidden "forts" can still be
found downstream. The kids were also responsible for fetching the water that we then
boiled on our wood burning stove for washing. And we still laugh about the time that
our youngest, then a toddler, sat down into a bucket of newly gotten, icy cold water.
Even our dog enjoyed the stream. In the Fall, you can watch the fish stream upstream
from the lake to the pond. Khyber would plant himself in the creek and try to catch
them as they swam by. It never worked but we admired his persistence!
Bill's Ranch Lake has been enjoyed Py so many of us for so many years. Our
canoe is always ready in the summer and when the ice freezes, the laKe is perfect for
ice skating. Every year we have friends join us the Sat. after Thanksgiving for a full
day of hockey followed by a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. I'm known for my superb
turkey but I know it's all due to the fresh air and exercise!
Now that two of our children are in college and one in High School, I feel
especially protective of this beautiful land. We must cherish these lakes and streams
for the next generation. I want my children and my future grandchildren to be able to
hear the creek gurgling as they go to sleep, to read a book by its beauty, and to enjoy
this lake, pond, and stream as I have.
Please don't allow Breckenridge to divert the water from Miner's Creek. It
means so very much to us!

Sincerely,
Marcia Little
3100 S. Williams St.
Englewood, CO 80110
