:'::SbU

somewhat over $5 million. The first priority
for using these funds has been given to acquir-
ing land for the Highway 75 relocation, as
well. as getting some land for initial construc- I'
tion in the dam site area. The next priority
will be given to the remainder of the land
needed in the construction area. Following
that we plan to generally work upstream until
all of the lands are acquired. We plan to
complete the land acquisition program by
1970.

For construction, the first contract
will be for some bridges for Highway 75 reloca-
tion. This will be a part of the major relo-
cation contract with the state Highway Depart-
ment. The contract to them went out in draft
form last week and barring any unforeseen
circumstances, the Colorado state Highway
Department should be designing the bridges
and get them done late this summer so con-
struction can begin this fall.

The next contract will be the initial
earth work contract which we plan now to be
for constructing the impervious cutoff trench
for the dam. We plan to award that this
fall. Construction would begin then early in
the spring of 1968. Following that \~e would
have other contracts with the Denver Water
Board, the Public Service Company, all other
utilities, and so on. They are being nego-
tiated now and should be finished probably
this summer.

The main earth work contract would go
out in 1968. The outlet works, spillway, and
downstre~m channel contracts would follow. I
Our schedule is flexible, depending mainly
upon appropriations of course. Tentatively
now we plan on closing the dam in the fall
of 1971.

That gives you a brief summary, I hope,
or a somewhat general idea anyway, of the
