generators and other electrical works, is about 89 percent completed, money-wise. Unit 5 is scheduled to go on the line in May. I On Flaming Gorge Reservoir, powerplant, and dam, very little construction has been going on at that location. It is essentially completed and this powerplant has operated at full capacity through this winter. On the Curecanti Unit, on the Blue Mesa Dam during the past report period, excavation has continued on the river channel. There has been some work on the installation of equip- ment and other mechanical installations. It is expected that the concrete work will con- tinue and be accelerated in April. We hope to start in with some of the work of placement of earth materials, particularly the pervious materials, in the zone 2 and 3 materials, this month. The structure now is about 70 feet above the river level, that is, as far as the zone 1 impervious material is concerned. Going on to Morrow point, the excavation has been completed in the switchyard and power- plant access tunnel. Open-cut excavation for the powerplant, including the tailraces, and the keyways for the dam, continued during February and March and the contractor has begun excavation on the powerplant chamber. It is expected that he will get into concreting operations about this July. Overall, the keyway and foundation excavations are about 75 percent completed. This was caused by a snow- slide that originated about 500 feet in elevation above the dam proper. Unfortunately there was one fatality and two other men were injured slightly. Immediately after this acci- dent a survey was made of the area and within approximately three days' time working opera- tions were resumed at this site.
