guess (and it's nothing more than a guess), that
we'll not be using transmission systems to any
very great extent sixty and seventy years from
now. So I can't get very excited about those'
long-range calculations of systems."

MR. STAPLETON:

"Governor, based on that last response, I!d
like very respectfully to ask upon what informa-
tion did the Upper Colorado River Commission
base its recommendations?"

I

GOVERNOR JOHNSON: "It based them on the theory that transmis-
sion lines would be used and operated fifty and
sixty and seventy years from now."

MR. STAPLETON: "What I meant, what facts and figures, which
studies from whom, were used as a basis for the
conclusion reached by the upper Colorado River
Commission? This Board is anxious to get all
the facts. Now.. ..

GOVERNOR JOHNSON: "Just a minute, I want to check with my
hearing aid over here."

MR. BARNARD, JR.: "He asked what facts and figures did the
Commission use to arrive at their conclusion.
Where did they get the studies, reports, etc.,
on which to base the resolution?"

GOVERNOR JOHNSON: "We got those figures from - we had figur~s
from the Bureau and we had figures from the
utilities. Digging into them was the basis for
whatever conclusions that we reached. I can .
only testify with respect to my information with
respect to these matters. I can't say what tqe
other Commissioners depended upon and what in~
formation they had."

MR. STAPLETON:

"~las the information that this Board sub-
mitted on August 2nd after a study over a
period of a long time, submitted by either of
the Commissioners for their consideration?"

I

GOVERNOR JOHNSON: "It was by me. I took that report very
seriously and as I have put in writing in this
statement today, I felt that Mr. Sparks had made
a case showing that under the wheeling charges

"
