he was unable to come up with a comparison, a
statement of comparison, between the two systems
for the reasons which I have stated there.

I

Since the question has arisen, the Commis-
sion has never asked Mr. Goslin to make such a
report. I told Mr. Goslin, and asked him if
he remembered that on May 11th we did ask for
such a report and he said 'Yes, I remember that
you did'. But we got no written report. When
I went out to Salt Lake in July - on July 17th
I spent all afternoon with Mr. Goslin and his
staff and at that time he pointed out again the
great difficulty that he had in trying to pre-
pare something for us in the way of a comparison
between the two systems. While I got a lot of
figures from the staff and they were very help-
ful to me, I did not get, and I have not been
able to get from anyone, very much in the way of
comparative tables that both sides would agree
upon and I think that is one of the sad features
of this whole thing. Anyway it was sad to me.
It caused me many hours of diligent digging and
studying, trying to corne up with information and
proposals that both sides could agree upon and
would agree upon.

I

It seemed to me that this matter was very
simple. So far as I was concerned it resolved
itself into this - I wanted to find out about
the Basin Fund; I was not interested and I
didn't care anything about the power fight
between the REA people and the Bureau on the one
hand and the utili ties on the other. That fight
did not interest me. What I wanted to find out
was, what was going to happen under both systems
to the Basin Fund out of which we must build
participating projects? And a good many of our
participating projects are not feasible without
a considerable contribution out of that Basin
Fund. That's the thing that I was interested
in.

There's one other thing that I haven't been
able.to become too excited about and that's
transmission systems fifty and sixty years away
from now. It's my personal believe, and my
