The City of Boulder <br />has donated senior water rights to the Board which will be used to help support the <br />recommended flows identified herein. Since the City and the Board are currently involved <br />in Case No. 90CW193, which will change the donated municipal rights to instream flow <br />purposes, it is important that the Board begin the appropriation process on these three <br />segments. <br /> <br />TECHNICAL INVESTIGATIONS <br /> <br />The enclosed packet of preliminary technical data forms the basis for the staffs <br />recommendations. <br /> <br />Natural Environment Studies <br /> <br />The Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) has conducted field surveys of the fishery <br />resources on these streams and has found a natural environment which can be preserved on <br />each of these streams. To quantify the resources and to evaluate instream flow <br />requirements, the DOW collected biologic and hydraulic data which was analyzed by the <br />DOW and Boarg staffs. Based on the results of these analyses, the DOW prepared <br />recommendations of the amount of water necessary to preserve the 'natural environment to <br />a reasonable degree for each of the streams on the attached Preliminary Notice. <br /> <br />Water Availability Studies <br /> <br />The CWCB staff has conducted a detailed evaluation of water availability for these <br />streams.
