CRDSS is 98% complete and is being used as a management to in all of the 5 major river basins. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Grand Vallev Water Users Association - Grand Vallev Water Management Proiect <br />Authorization: SB 97-008 Grant Amount: $1,250,000 <br />Water Source: Colorado River Project Type: Irrigation Canal Rehab. <br />Location: Mesa County - N. of Grand Junction Project Manager: Randy Seaholm <br /> <br />This project is the construction of check structures and automated control systems in the Government Highline Canal <br />near Grand Junction. The project is designed to conserve water by reducing late summer spills from the Govemment <br />Highline Canal and to use as much of the conserved water as possible to increase flows in the Colorado River and help <br />recover endangered fish. The project is in conjunction with the CWCB, the Grand Valley Water Users Association and <br />the Bureau of Reclamation. The grant funds will be ttsed for long term maintenance and operation of the system. The <br />Association has invested the grant funds in long term securities, thus developing a cash flow to be used for the project <br />expenses. The Bureatt has awarded the check structure construction contract to May Concrete, Inc. of Grand Junction. <br />Construction will commence in November 2000 and be completed by April 1, 2001. <br /> <br />Denver Museum of Natural Historv - Denver Basin Aauifer Core Studv <br />Attthorization: HB 98-1189 Grant Amount: $90,000 <br />Water Sottrce: Denver Basin Aquifer Project Type: Gmdwater Investigation <br />Location: Elbert County, 1 mi. E. of Kiowa Project Manager: Mike Serlet <br /> <br />This project is the acquisition of a 2,200-foot core of the Denver Basin aquifers near Kiowa in the central Denver Basin. <br />The purpose of the core is to help develop an integrated hydrologic and geologic framework for the Denver Basin aquifers. <br />This will enable State, County, and municipal planners to promote appropriate development of the Basin's water resources. <br />This core-drilling project is part of a three-year National Science Foundation research study that will focus on the eVOlution. <br />ofthe Denver Basin and its landscapes. Drilling commenced March 1, 1999 by Layne Western, Inc. and was completed in <br />April. Core analysis will continue for three years. <br /> <br />CWCBfU.S. Armv Corns of Engineers - Chatfield Reservoir Reallocation Studv <br />Authorization: HB 98-1189 Grant Amount: $500,000 <br />Water Source: South Platte River Project Type: Reservoir Supply Study <br />Location: 10 miles S. of Denver Project Manager: Larry Lang <br />This project involves cooperating with the Corps of Engineers for the performance of a feasibility study regarding the <br />reallocation of existing flood control storage to a multi-purpose use. A Scope of Work and contract has been executed to <br />investigate the opportunities and feasibility for the reallocation of certain storage volumes. The contract will determine <br />reallocation opportunities and impacts, environmental assessments, plan formulation recommendations, and formal <br />request to higher Corps authority. <br /> <br />CWCB - Cherry Creek Flood Safetv Investigation <br />Authorization: SB 99-173 <br />Water Source: Cherry Creek <br />Location: Southeast Denver Metro <br /> <br />Grant Amount: $75,000 <br />Project Type: Flood Control <br />Project Manager: Larry Lang <br /> <br />This project is a technical review of the Corps of Engineers and National Weather Service July I3 1995 PMP Study and <br />Corps PMF for the Corps Dam Safety Investigation of the Cherry Creek Dam and Reservoir. The Board staff in <br />cooperation with the Cherry Creek Work Group has prepared a Scope of Work for the technical review. DNR has posted <br />the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Project and the contractor proposals for the performance of the project tasks are <br />under review by the selection committee. <br /> <br />CWCB - Rio Grande Decision Support Svstem <br />Authorization: SB 99-173 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Grant Amount: $4,000,000 <br />
