The Rio Grande Decision Support System (RGDSS) is a continuation of the CWCB long-range goal of having a decision
_support system in each major river basin in Colorado. It builds on the tools developed under CRDSS. Beginning in
December 1998, the various RGDSS contracts were negotiated. These contracts included (I).Ground Water, (2) Surface
Water, (3) Consumptive UselWater Budget, (4) Relational System Integration, and (5) Spatial System Integration/Project
Management Assistant. This effort is in its first year of development.

CWCB - Water Resources Basinwide Pact Sheets
Attthorization: SB 99- 173
Water Source: N/A
Location: Statewide

Grant Amottnt: $225,000
Project Type: Information Develpmnt
Project Manager: Dan McAuliffe

This project is well underway. A contract with Brown and Caldwell for $125,000 was let in 1999. Draft fact sheets were
produced and revisions are underway. Pinal fact sheets are expected by the end of 2000. The remaining funds will be
used to pay for basin planning meetings and future planning materials.

South Platte River Decision Support Svstem
Attthorization: SB 99-173
Water Source: South Platte River
Location: South Platte Basin

Grant Amount: $100,000
Project Type: Decision Support Systm
Project Manager: Randy Seaholm

The South Platte Decision Support System (SPDSS) is in the initial feasibility stage. Consultants have been selected and
the feasibility contract is in the approval process. Once the contract is finalized. scopes of work will be written outlining
what the feasibility will encompass. This document will be the basis for determining the cost and time period to
accomplish a decision support system in the Platte River and Republican River basins.

_san Luis Vallev Water Conservancv District - Rio Grande Headwaters Restoration Proiect
Authorization: SB 99-173 Grant Amount: $200.000
Water Source: Rio Grande River Project Type: Multi-Objective Study
Location: Alamosa upstream to SOttth Pork Project Manager: Brian Hyde

This project involves the preparation of a Multi-Objective study for the Rio Grande from South Pork downstream to the
Alamosa/Conejos County line (downstream of Alamosa). The river has been experiencing problems related to interstate
compact delivery requirements, distribution of irrigation water through diversion structures, riparian habitat, flood
protection and channel conveyance capacity. The study will determine specific problems. locations of those problems,
causes of the problems and alternatives for mjtigating the river problems. The study will kick off on September 18, with
a public meeting in Monte Vista at which property owners and others will describe the problems with which they are
famjliar and the consultant team will describe its project approach. Completion of thc project is anticipated in July 2001.

Douglas Cottntv Water Authoritv - S. Metro Area Project Manager: Bill Green

The Douglas County Water Resource Authority (DCWRA) is partnering with the Denver Water Board and the Colorado
River Water Conservation District to conduct a study of the water supply needs of the southem portion of the Denver
metropolitan area. The purpose of the study is to examjne and propose water supply strategies that meet the near-term and
long-term water needs of Authority members in a way that delays and mjnimjzes the need to import additional water from
.. the Colorado River Basin. The stttdy will review the recommendations in the Metropolitan Water Supply Investigation
_inclttding withdrawals from the Denver Basin Aquifer and conjunctive use of South Platte River water. The results of this
study should indicate the extent to which water supplies can be developed, first within the basin, before reaching a cost
