I

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. PETERSON:

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. BURR:

I

-...., ..,

This is not going to answer the operating
problems of John Martin in connection . with penna-
nent pool legislation but it is a first step - a
very necessary first step, and I think we are
taking a very shortsighted view of the entire
problem if we table this proposal at this time
and fail to give full consideration to the inter-
ests of the people in having recreational space
available in John Martin. That's my own posi-
tion."

"I'd like the Board to recognize that parlia-
mentarian-wise we shouldn't be discussing this -
having any further discussion on this motion.
I'd like to stick by that unless somebody ob-
jects.

Mr. Peterson."

"I'd like to speak on my motion, please.
I'm not taking the position, and I don't think
any member of this Board is taking the position
at this time, that we are opposing this particu-
larly. I think it's the lack of information. I
realize it is impossible to incorporate in this
legislation the operating principles of this
project but on the other hand, I see no reason
why this Board should not have available to it,..
before it takes action, the operating principles;
how this project is going to be operated after
it is constructed or after the pool has been
established.

Now I'm not opposed to this because I don't
know enough about it at the present time to be
opposed to it and I think there are a good many
others the same way."

"Mr. Burr, if you don't mind, let's vote on
the motion."

"Well, I would just like to state that I am
not opposed to this permanent pool. I was merely
bringing out the few things that should be pin-
pointed and I was trying to get those details a
little bit. I don't care to second a motion that
was going to table it for any considerable time
but I do think a little more time should be put
in on it so we would know a few more of the
principles. Maybe this lO,OOO or 20,000 feet
will not be adequate. Then this is all for
nothing."
