..LvGU

We also hope to get into the Wilder-
ness legislation while we are back there
with the Department of the Interior and
learn more about their thoughts on that
subject.

I think that basically summarizes
it. Mr. Knights from the Bureau of Recla-
mation, Region 7, is here. Mr. Knights
has been our primary liaison with the
Bureau in the Fryingpan-Arkansas matter,
together with the area engineer, Mr. Bar-
rett, from Pueblo. We have been working
jointly in the field and in the office
on the Fryingpan-Arkansas problem which
is the responsibility of Region 7. Jim,
do you have anything that you can bring
us up to date on at this time?"

I

MR. KNIGHTS:

"Well, I could give you a little bit
more detail on our status, Larry. I was
very happy to hear you make the statement
that we were trying to cram into two or
three months, two years of work, because we
certainly are.

We do hope to hand you cost estimates
on Ruedi and on that alternate site above
Aspen by the end of this month. We are
coming along very well with those portions.
We were able to reprice and do some minor
work to some old estimates we have on hand.
Basic engineering data was available to us,
so it is going to reduce the cost of that
particular estimate considerably. Our
other studies, our power operations down
through the eastern slope, we have .com-
pleted a great deal of those studies but
have run into some difficulty that has
been time consuming. I am sorry to say there
that I can't say we are complete, but we are
making good progress on them and we expect
to get those done the first part of next
month. Then we will be prepared to make .1:
final decisions in our economic studies.
We can't go into those studies until we
get power operations studies completed.
None of this work on the replacement re-
servoirs and changes over there on the
western slope will effect either the power
operation studies or the economic studies.
Those can go ahead as intended and be
